Himar Ojeda: “It would not be unreasonable to think of a Plan B for basketball competitions”

The sports director of Alba Berlin, Himar Ojeda, analyzed the complicated start of the season in the world of basketball, Radio MARCA reports: “You have to live this season focused on day-to-day life and for that Aíto’s philosophy is very good. We cannot remove the uncertainty, but we must see if the season can be completed and where we are when everything is over. It is a year for try to survive,” as he said.

The German champion lives the start of the season with the uncertainty of COVID and planning difficulties. “It is getting more and more difficult, there will be a clear calendar problem. At some point it will be practically unfeasible and it would not be unreasonable to think of a plan B for both national and international competitions,” he said.

Ojeda also valued the difficulties when rebuilding a squad that dominated German basketball winning the Bundesliga and the Cup. “I don’t remember a summer as intense in negotiations as this one, due to uncertainty, the cuts. We lost 6 players and it was time to rebuild a project that had worked. It was a challenge, but we have made a good team.”

In the end, he added: “it has been an interesting soap opera, I do not know the contractual details, but he is a great player, he is more than prepared to playing in the NBA and NBA teams would make a mistake if they didn’t catch it.”
