Sports News Headlines: World Cup 2022 Tops and Misses

 

Last week the World Cup 2022 play off rounds have started. We got some big surprises here!

Who surprised us and who impressed us the most?

Let’s have a look at the teams and performances!

 

Who Qualified to Round of 16?

From Group A, Netherlands and Senegal have qualified for the next round, as expected.

From Group B, England and the USA have qualified for the next round.

Also in Group C, we don’t have any surprises. Argentina and Poland qualified for Round of 16.

From Group D, we got France and Australia to the Round of 16.

In Group E, we got the biggest surprise: Germany left out of the tournament, Japan topped the group and Spain were 2nd.

Also in Group F we have a surprise, Belgium left out from the tournament. Morocco and Croatia are in the next round.

In Group G, as expected Brazil and Switzerland qualified for Round of 16.

In Group H, we have another surprise, Uruguay are back home. Portugal and South Korea qualified for the next round.

 

Round of 16 Matches

4 Round of 16 matches were played last week:

Netherlands 3-1 USA

Argentina 2-1 Australia

France 3-1 Poland

England 3-0 Senegal

We have no surprises here, favorites beat the opponents and qualified for Quarter-finals. Let’s just mention the impressive performances of France and England .. and, Mbappe was brilliant!
