Silk Way Rally 2021 will start on 1 July: 5,000 km between Russia, Mongolia and China
The next season of the Silk Way Rally was presented after the cancellation of the 2020 race for the coronavirus.
The 2021 season of the Silk Way Rally will cross Russia, Mongolia and China in ten stages between 1 and 11 July, on a largely unprecedented 5,000 km route. “The start will be from Omsk (Siberia) on 1 July 2021 – the organizers announce – The rally will accompany the drivers towards the southeast of Siberia and then veer to the west and the Altai between Mongolia and Russia, before the final in Chinese territory through the Gobi desert and the arrival in Urumqi after a long and selective journey ”.
The tenth edition of the rally, initially scheduled for 2020, was canceled due to Covid, the next one will necessarily be adapted to the health situation, said the head of the organization, Frederic Lequien. The Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota, winner of three Dakar) among the cars, the British Sam Sunderland (KTM, once king of the Dakar) among the motorcycles and the Russian Anton Shibalov (Kamaz) among the trucks were the latest winners in 2019.
